Frequently Asked Questions
1What should I expect at the visit?
If it's your first visit, we will take time to go over your history and current health concerns. It is a good time to field any questions that may be specific to your case. The first visit generally consists of a consultation and exam, as well as any chiropractic adjustments or therapies that are indicated from the history and exam. Finish your New Patient Intake paperwork before coming to your first visit, and plan on about 30 minutes for the visit itself. Follow-up visits are generally shorter, about 10 minutes.
2What is an adjustment like?
We have many ways to perform adjustments, and we can tailor them to the needs of the patient. The classic adjustment "pop" that people talk about is usually painless and is often described as giving a feeling of relief. Sometimes a manual ("hands-on") style of adjustment isn't indicated, or the patient requests a different or "gentler" style of adjustment. This is easily accommodated with various devices and tools that involve no twisting, pushing, or "cracking" at all, and can be extremely gentle. We are happy to go over any options with you at your visit!
3What ages of patients do you see and what types of issues do they have?
We can see absolutely any age of patient! From infants and children, to teenagers, adults, pregnant women, and folks of more advanced ages, we can help in all stages of life. We see a huge variety of ailments that bring people in- things like babies who aren't nursing properly, high school athletes staying on top of their game, older people who want their retirement to be pain-free, and of course, plenty of back and neck pain. Also "tech neck" is very real, and affects a huge number of us!
4How often do I need to be seen?
If you come in with a specific injury, of course this will depend on the details of your specific case. In general, if you are coming in with an injury or a "flare up" of a previous problem, it is best to do a small series of visits to address the problem. As you feel better and better, the visits are spaced out further and further.
Our goal is for everyone to be at a point where all they need is maintenance care; coming in every so often in order to maintain feeling and functioning your absolute best. Think of it like getting oil changes in your car- it's better to get it done from time-to-time on an occasional maintenance schedule, instead of avoiding and waiting until your engine blows up.
Don't think that anyone is coming back because they are somehow forced to keep returning; Patients come back on their own because they feel better and they see results.
5Can you fix this or that certain ailment or injury?
The only way to answer this is with a thorough history and exam, which we will do on your initial visit, or in the case of a new injury as necessary. If our services are not indicated or appropriate, we will refer you to someone who can help with your unique circumstance.
